Mr. Taylor is the lead advisor and Instructor for the Criminal Justice and Forensic Science Program at the Eden Area Regional Occupational program in Hayward California. Mr. Taylor has 17 years teaching experience in private and public education, which includes ROP, resource specialist, special Ed language arts, criminal justice and forensic science. He is a former California Sworn Peace Officer and has worked in law enforcement both privately and in the public sector for 25 years. Mr. Taylor holds several credentials from P.O.S.T. (California Peace Officers and Training).
Mr. Taylor was named the 2009 Eden Area ROP and Alameda County Teacher of the Year and has received several accommodations and awards for his innovation, dedication, and achievements. Mr. Taylor received recognition for his development of a statewide Forensic Science crime scene competition. His class won the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Skills USA California State Championship in Forensic Science, represented California in the National Skills USA Championships in Kansas City, Missouri winning 2 bronze and 1 gold medal, and currently holds the record for the top performing Criminal Justice and Forensic Science class in the Nation due to Mr. Taylor’s hard work and expert direction.
Mr. Taylor received his teaching credentials from San Jose State University. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice (Magna Cum Laude) from American Continental University (AIU) and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and Education with a concentration in Organizational Leadership from AIU. He is currently pursuing an EdD in Organizational Leadership at Northcentral University.
Mr. Taylor takes great joy in teaching others and feels that it is his duty to extend to all students the knowledge that he has obtained. He espouses to the belief that teaching is a profession that requires an enormous amount of planning, goal setting, and assessment of student performance, which are essential components that significantly affect the academic outcome for all students. It is his goal that through his instruction students will gain skills that will transform and enrich their lives forever.
